The Robin Hood Tax is a proposal for a tiny tax, 1/2 of 1 percent or less, on financial transactions in the U.S. that would free up hundreds of billions of dollars to protect public goods. A wide spectrum of pressing social needs could be addressed through this tiny tax on the excesses of Wall Street speculators, from funding climate change solutions to stemming home foreclosures to broadening public access to health care and education.

The Robin Hood Tax campaign just kicked off in the U.S., and the idea is quickly gaining broad support, including from prominent business leaders, economists and financiers, celebrities and, most importantly, many thousands of ordinary citizens.
