Foundation Fundraising Volunteer

Summary

Friends of the Earth defends the environment and champions a healthy and just world. In this position, you’ll work closely with the director of foundation relations to help us achieve our goals more quickly, by accelerating our foundation fundraising work. Capable foundation relations professionals are in high demand by nonprofit organizations, and nonprofit program directors and executive directors must know how to raise foundation funds -- so this is a career-building opportunity. The director of foundation relations is a published writer, strong editor, and thoughtful supervisor.

Major Responsibilities

  • Identify possible new foundation funders for specific campaigns, through online research in a database of 98,000 foundations
  • Prioritize new foundation prospects that are the “best fit” with our work, through Web research
  • Draft letters of inquiry to priority foundations, as appropriate
  • (May be opportunity to assist with campaign work, if desired)

This position is unpaid.
