Each year, the federal government gives away more than $10 billion in tax breaks to oil and gas companies. These polluting industries are already raking in record profits — it’s an outrageous waste of taxpayer dollars to pay them for damaging our environment.

The action toolkit — 5 ways you can help end oil and gas subsidies — will give you tips on pressuring your members of Congress to end these giveaways.

The toolkit has tips on five ways that you can take action:

  1. Share our top 5 reasons for ending oil and gas subsidies with your friends, colleagues, family and community.
  2. Attend town hall meetings to let your elected representatives know how you feel — see our tips for speaking up at public events.
  3. Organize an in-district meeting with your member of Congress.
  4. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper — see our sample letter.
  5. Join the Friends of the Earth online community and keep us up to date on what you’re doing to stop taxpayer handouts to Big Oil.
